We advise our patients to stop smoking 1 month prior to their surgery.

  • What is the general recovery time for plastic surgery?

A good estimate of recovery time for any given procedure is approximately 6 weeks from the surgery date.Often times, patients start to feel like themselves after 3-4 weeks.

  • How long do I have to go without sitting following a BBL?

Patients getting a BBL need to stay directly off the glutes/hips for at least 3 weeks. When sitting, a thigh pillow must be used where all their weight is on their thighs and no pressure is being applied on the glutes.

  • How long do I have to wear my compressive garment?

Garments must be worn for at least 6 weeks total. For the first 3 weeks, the garment must be worn 24/7. It can be taken off for bathroom use or to shower. After the first 3 weeks the garment can be worn 12 hours on, then 12 hours off. It’s important to keep in mind that shrinking out of a garment will happen, but the time frame of such is not predicted.

  • What is the importance of lymphatic massages?

The importance of a lymphatic massage is to get the excess body fluid out of the body, allowing it to drain through the body’s lymphatic system. This tailored massage eliminates swelling and fluid buildup such as hematomas and seromas, as well as helps overall body contouring.

  • What are my restrictions?

Any breast surgery should not lift over 10lbs., reach overhead or engage pectoral muscles for 6-8 weeks. No core exercises for 8 weeks for patients with an Abdominoplasty.  If the patient is getting a BBL, they must keep in mind the preservation of fat cells. Light cardio such as walking is encouraged immediately after surgery.

  • Do you use drains and why?

Dr. Griffin inserts drains for certain procedures such as tummy tucks and breast reductions. Drains allow the fluid that accumulates in the space created by surgery to come out into the bulbs.

  • How do I know if I need a tummy tuck vs. liposuction

Typically, if you have overhanging skin and/or a significant muscle separation (diastasis recti), you are more of a candidate for tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty) than liposuction alone

  • When can I have another surgery following initial surgery?

If you have desires for multiple procedures, it may be best to do them in stages.  Dr. Griffin recommends spacing procedures out at least 3 months.

  • Is there a limit to the amount of liposuction I can get?

The State of Michigan has a recommended maximum liposuction of 5 liters.

  • What is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures for the purpose of a woman to rejuvenate the areas that were most impacted by motherhood.  This can include breast, tummy, and/or buttock procedures.

  • What is the difference between a breast reduction and a breast lift?

Breast reductions and breast lifts (Mastopexy) are very similar.  A breast reduction is typically a medically necessary procedure to alleviate the symptoms of having large breasts.  If going through insurance, certain criteria will need to be met. A breast lift is a cosmetic procedure that lifts and reshapes the breasts.  This is done with an inferior pedicle technique, similar to breast reduction.

  • When can I expect results from InMode procedures?

Patients will see some immediate improvements in the treated areas with results continuing to improve over time.  Full results are seen 6 to 12 months post procedure.
